Child Identity Theft is a Serious, Rampant Crime with Devastating Effects
Most child identity thieves are illegal aliens who use fraudulent documents, such as SSNs, to obtain work, open bank accounts, apply for government aid, housing, credit, etc.
75% of illegal aliens have a fraudulently obtained SSN.
Fraudulent documents can be obtained on the internet or sold at specific locations for $75 to $300.
In Utah, it is estimated that 50,000 Utah children are the victims of illegal alien driven identity theft.
In Utah, 1,632 companies were found to be paying wages to the SSNs of Utah children on public assistance under the age of 13.
One SSN can be used by multiple illegal aliens.
Parents and children may never discover an identity theft until later years when: (1)when the child has need of a license, employment, credit, bank account, etc.; (2)when the family needs to apply for government aid, or receives a notice from the IRS demanding that the child pay taxes on wages earned by an illegal alien.
For the victims of identity theft, recovering their good names is very costly in money, resources, time and energy.
For the criminal, it is low-risk and high-reward.
Leaders Support Perpetrators and Ignore Victims Illegal Alien driven identity theft is ignored, rationalized and supported, and perpetrators are defended by some:
local, state and federal political leaders
civic leaders
religious organizations
businesses
media
law enforcement leaders
These “elites” justify these crimes by stating that “the crime does not impose a burden,” the criminals are “forced” to commit crimes and are told “that is how you get to work.” They also criticize and demean their colleagues and citizens who oppose this crime against our children. The IRS and SSA turn a blind eye as well.
